Simulation Course on Code Stroke: From Diagnosis to Early Treatment
We are very pleased to offer, for the first time a Simulation Workshop in coordination with SAYN and with the support of PD Bastian Volbers, MD, Bern and PD Thomas Meinel, MD, Bern.
Aim: Application Crew-Resource-Management (focus on communication) in the hyperacute phase in order to shorten time to acute treatment. Interprofessional learning. Decision making in acute stroke cases.

Content:
- What is simulation, and how the simulation applies in healthcare and in stroke medicine
- Medical background: the importance of managing acute stroke care and shortening time to acute treatment for stroke treatments;
- Application of Crew Resource Management; effective team communication, effective team processes.
- Revascularization therapies and intracerebral haemorrhage bundle of care: patients’ selection, indications and contraindications, decision making.
- Practical hands-on session: Role playing with changing/rotating roles of two simulated stroke cases with simulated/standardized patients; active participation is mandatory.
- Debriefing session following each simulated case. This will be a guided discussion on the case including technical and behavioural skills as well as clinical knowledge acquisition.
